1. CERTIFICATE IN AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE (LEVEL 4)
PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM
This course is aimed to produce graduate with knowledge and practical skills of crop and livestock production and management.
The course Modules will equip students with varieties of vocational skills needs for crop and animal husbandry, and management. It also gives the students the opportunity to undertake Industry practical work experience to develop an understanding of the general principles and their implications in Tonga. This purpose however addresses one of the fundamental Primary Outcome Objectives highlighted in the National Strategic Planning Framework (SDP8) which is to:
"Increase performance of Technical Training Vocational Education & Training (TVET) to meet the challenges of maintaining and developing services and infrastructure." By:
- Implementation of the education sector strategy (supporting and improving universal basic education)
- Promoting skill development through better technical and vocational education
- Education for overseas employment
Thus, provides opportunity for students to become productive members in the society by making responsible decisions about the appropriate use of various agricultural values in their future roles as Tongan citizens.
2. DIPLOMA IN AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE (LEVEL 5)
PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM
The course is aimed at those who wish to extend their existing studies or knowledge in Agriculture and is designed to allow students to develop knowledge and understanding of the interaction between the components of agriculture and the scientific principles that explain the production, management, processes, marketing, and consumption.
The course caters for a diverse range of students who successfully completed South Pacific Form 7 and NCVS Certificate in Agricultural Science (Level 4) or student who completed a study equivalent to the NCVS Agricultural Science Level 4.
This course provides opportunities for multiple pathways to employment and further studies. Students are required to complete 21 Modules of study normally including a Research Project plus 12 weeks industry Work Experience.
